Penn State WRs coach Noah Pauley to leave for NFL’s Green Bay Packers, per source

Matt Campbell’s first Penn State coaching staff was dealt a blow just one day after it was introduced to the media.

Wide receivers coach Noah Pauley is leaving to coach the wide receivers with the Green Bay Packers, a source told the Centre Daily Times on Thursday morning.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported the news.

Pauley’s initial decision to stay with Campbell and Penn State was seen as a big win for the Nittany Lions. He’s regarded as one of the best receivers coaches in the country, after helping develop current Packers receiver Christian Watson, along with Houston Texans receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel while they were in college.

He and the rest of the staff spoke to the media Wednesday afternoon for the first time, when he explained why he followed Campbell.

“It was a process of how he was gonna do it,” Pauley said. “It’s all about people, and these guys are some of my closest friends on the offense, and they’re guys that we hang out with outside the building. It’s not just work. We’ve got wives the same age, kids similar ages, so that stuff’s important. And obviously coach Campbell is an unbelievable leader, person. He’s as advertised is what I always tell people. So it just makes sense.”
