Penn State releases NIL, revenue sharing spending. See how much each program got

Penn State’s financial report from the 2024-2025 fiscal year has been released — and it includes how much the Nittany Lions spent on the revenue-sharing aspect of name, image and likeness for each of its sports.

The funding, which can be up to $20.5 million, was listed at about $18.4 million, with the majority of it going to the football program. The program received $13.3 million from the athletic department, which amounts to roughly 72.6% of the revenue sharing money that went to different programs.

Men’s basketball received the second-most of any program, with just over $3 million. Men’s basketball and football also brought in the only media rights money from the conference, with the former bringing in about $8.8 million and the latter bringing in about $50 million.

Both of those programs also brought in postseason revenue from the Big Ten, with football bringing in about 99% of the roughly $20.8 million.

Only wrestling received more than $1 million in institutional revenue sharing, getting about $1.5 million. Baseball received $300,000 in revenue sharing.

Men’s programs received the vast majority of the funding, with $120,000 going to women’s programs ($110,000 to basketball and $10,000 to volleyball).

The only other programs to receive any of the money were men’s ice hockey ($95,000), men’s lacrosse ($50,000) and men’s tennis ($10,000).
