Penn State football: Dioubate, No. 4 prospect in Pennsylvania, commits to Nittany Lions

Penn State received the 19th commitment in its 2016 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon when Philadelphia Prep Charter defensive tackle Karamo Dioubate announced his decision to become a Nittany Lion.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound recruit is ranked the No. 4 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, according to 247Sports, and the No. 16 defensive tackle in the nation.

Dioubate, a four-star recruit, joins three other top-ten in-state commits in offensive lineman Michal Menet (No. 1), running back Miles Sanders (No. 2) and center Connor McGovern (No. 6).

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Dioubate’s commitment puts Penn State’s class of 2016 at No. 4 in the nation. The class has room for between three and five more players before signing day in February.

“Penn State is a good spot,” Dioubate told Scout.com last week. “There’s not (just) one thing that is special. I like them as a university.”

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer expressed his excitment over finding another versatile defensive prospect — Dioubate could play on the edge or at tackle — on his Twitter page.

“Love when the day starts off right!” He wrote. Offensive line coach Herb Hand chimed in too, with a reference to the position group’s nickname and the locality of the commit.

“It all starts up front! Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. #WeAre #814WildDogs.”
