Carl Nassib named to AP All-America first team
The honors just keep on coming.
Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib added to his list of accomplishments on Sunday, as he was named to the Associated Press All-America first team. It’s Nassib’s fifth All-America accolade this season.
Nassib is the first Penn State player to earn Associated Press All-America honors since 2013, when former Penn State wide receiver Allen Robinson and lineman John Urschel were selected to the third team. Devon Still was the last Nittany Lion to earn first team AP honors, doing so in 2011.
In addition to the All-America honors, Nassib won the 46th Rotary Lombardi Award for the nation’s top lineman or linebacker, and the 14th Ted Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end. He was also picked as the Big Ten’s Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year.
Nassib leads the nation in sacks (15.5) and forced fumbles (6). His 19.5 tackles for loss ranks second in FBS and first in the Big Ten.
