Barkley named Freshman All-American
Penn State freshman running back Saquon Barkley has been voted as a Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American, the athletic department announced on Monday.
After a season in which he rushed for 1,076 yards despite missing 2 1/2 games to injury, Barkley’s list of accolades includes freshman first-team All-America honors from USA Today and Sporting News as well as a place on ESPN.com’s True Freshman All-America team. He also was BTN.com’s Freshman of the Year.
