Former defensive tackle Tarow Barney signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets, Penn State announced on Friday.
“I am so happy that Tarow has this opportunity,” Nittany Lions coach James Franklin said in a press release. “He really opened some eyes during our Pro Day with how well he tested and moved in the workouts. He has great potential and will work hard with this chance to continue his career.”
Barney finished with nine tackles last season.
“Tarow is a guy that played behind two future NFL guys (Austin Johnson and Anthony Zettel),” Penn State defensive line coach Sean Spencer said in the release. “He is a tremendous athlete, one of the fastest guys I have ever seen to be 300 pounds. He has great strength in the weight room. I am excited for Tarow. I can’t wait to see the next step for him.”
