Penn State women’s hockey cruises past RIT

Daniela Paniccia recorded the Penn State women’s hockey team’s second straight shutout in a 2-0 win over RIT on Saturday.

Paniccia made 32 saves to help the Nittany Lions complete the sweep against the Tigers. Brooke Madsen and Katie Rankin each scored goals for Penn State in the second period. Penn State’s Sophie Slattery, Kate Rydland, Kelsey Crow and Natalie Heising each recorded assists.

Penn State outscored RIT 7-0 in the series, with goalie Hannah Ehresmann recording 15 saves in the team’s 5-0 win on Friday.

Penn State has now gone 2-0-4 in its last six games.

The Nittany Lions (4-7-8, 2-2-4 CHA) open a two-game series at Ohio State on Friday.
