Tommy Olczyk earns Big Ten honor

It’s another first for Penn State men’s hockey forward Tommy Olczyk.

Olczyk, days removed from a career night, was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week on Tuesday by the conference. It’s the first weekly honor of the redshirt senior’s career.

The recognition comes on the coattails of a prolific performance in Penn State’s win over Princeton on Friday night. Olczyk tallied his first multi-point collegiate game with a hat trick in the 6-3 triumph.

Olczyk is the sixth different Penn State player to earn weekly honors from the conference.

Penn State, ranked in both national polls for the first time in program history, play Robert Morris in the Three Rivers Classic on Monday, Dec. 28 at CONSOL Energy Center.
