Penn State women’s hockey falls to RIT
Despite outshooting RIT, Penn State was held scoreless in a 3-0 loss to the Tigers on Friday night.
RIT’s Taylor Thurston opened the scoring in the second period, notching her third goal of the year just 16 seconds into the Tigers’ third power play attempt of the game.
RIT tacked on two more in the third period, as Lindsay Stenason tallied one with 5:02 remaining and Jess Paton buried an empty-netter with six seconds left in regulation.
Penn State outshot RIT 33-24 on the evening, and Nittany Lions goaltender Celine Whitlinger made 21 saves.
The two teams meet again at 3 p.m. Saturday.
