Mercyhurst knocks off Penn State women’s hockey
Penn State went into the third period tied but fell to Mercyhurst 3-1 on Friday.
Amy Petersen found the back of the net in the second period to tie the game 1-1. But the Lakers answered with third-period goals by Brooke Hartwick and Jaclyn Arbour to seal the win.
Mercyhurst’s Emily Janiga gave her team a 1-0 lead in the first period.
The Lakers outshot Penn State 34-19.
Penn State goalie Celine Whitlinger made 31 saves.
The Nittany Lions (10-18-5, 6-8-5) finish the regular season at Mercyhurst (17-10-4, 14-3-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
