Dawes added to Penn State men’s hockey staff

Alex Dawes has been named director of hockey operations for the Penn State men’s hockey team.

Dawes had been an assistant coach with the Nittany Lion women’s program the last three seasons. Dawes replaces Billy Downey, who left earlier this month to take a position with the Lehigh Valley Flyers of the AHL, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dawes also has served as video coach of the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 team, and is a 2012 Utica graduate.

Penn State hosts Queens College of Ontario on Oct. 2, then opens the season Oct. 6 hosting St. Lawrence.
