Suero earns Big Ten honor

ROSEMONT, Ill.

Penn State women’s soccer defender Laura Suero earned Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced in a press release Tuesday.

Suero found the back of the net to help the Nittany Lions to a 1-0 win over Wisconsin on Sunday.

It was the first goal of her career.

She shared the award with Rutgers’ Nicole Whitley, who scored the game-winning goal in a win over Maryland last week.

Penn State (5-2-2) hosts Iowa at 8 p.m. Friday.
