Penn State men’s soccer beat Indiana 3-0 at Jeffrey Field on Sunday to capture its first Big Ten tournament championship since 2015.
“What a special day for our program at Penn State,” head coach Jeff Cook said in a release. “We’re so proud to represent this university and all of our athletic programs. It’s a great moment. I’d like to recognize our players and student-athletes and their mentality in the last few weeks of the season, their determination, their quality to achieve what we need is just remarkable. It’s a testament to what they’ve done collectively through the season.”
Goals were scored by Seth Kuhn (assisted by Daniel Bloyou), Tyger Evans and Pierre Reedy (assisted by Kuhn and Peter Mangione).
Kuhn was named the Offensive Player of the Tournament and Kris Shakes the Defensive Player of the Tournament. Mangione, Kuhn and Shakes were named to the 2021 Big Ten All-Tournament team.
Penn State earned the No. 12 seed and a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions will host a second-round game at Jeffrey Field on Nov. 21 against either Hofstra or Lipscomb.
