Penn State men’s soccer: Akron blanks Nittany Lions

Adam Najem scored on a penalty kick in the second half to lift the No. 9 Akron men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Penn State on Wednesday night.

Najem scored the game’s lone goal at the 76:18 mark.

Akron outshot Penn State 24-6, but the Zips (6-2-1) managed just five shots on goal. Nittany Lions goalie Matt Bersano finished with three saves.

Akron goalie Jake Fenlason made three saves.

The Nittany Lions (4-3-2) take on Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., at 7 p.m. Saturday.
