Penn State women’s soccer: Nittany Lions rally past Purdue

Raquel Rodriguez scored late in the second half to lift the No. 9 Nittany Lions to a 2-1 win over Purdue on Thursday night.

Penn State trailed 1-0 after Purdue’s Mikayla Lasky found the back of the net at the 48:18 mark in the second half. The Nittany Lions tied it less than 10 minutes later on a goal by Megan Schafer off a service from Ellie Jean from midfield.

Rodriguez found the back of the net at the 79:59 mark for the game-winner, set up by a feed from Emily Ogle after Mallory Weber’s free kick.

Penn State outshot the Boilermakers 20-3. Nittany Lions goalie Britt Eckerstrom did not make a save in the win.

Penn State (11-2-2, 6-1-1 Big Ten) returns to action at Rutgers on Sunday.
