Raquel Rodriguez named MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist

Senior midfielder Raquel Rodriguez has been named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Award, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced Tuesday afternoon. The MAC Hermann Trophy is soccer’s most prestigious award, awarded to one male and one female.

Rodriguez is one of 15 female semifinalists for the award. The only other Big Ten semifinalist is Rose Lavelle from Wisconsin.

In her senior season, Rodriguez has played in all 25 matches, tallying six assists and five goals.

This season marks the seventh consecutive season Penn State has had a semifinalist or runner-up for the award. The program’s lone winner was Christie Welsh in 2001.

Fans can cast their vote for Rodriguez at http://gopsu.info/VoteRocky. Three male and three female finalists for the award will be announced on Dec. 11.
