Penn State’s Rodriguez receives national award

Penn State’s Raquel Rodriguez earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar Player of the Year award, the NSCAA announced Friday.

Rodriguez, who has a 3.80 grade point average, finished with six goals and six assists this past season. She scored the game-winning goal in the national championship game against Duke.

Rodriguez is the second Penn State player to win the award. Joanna Lohman picked up the honor in 2002 and 2003.
