Penn State women’s soccer fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the defending national champions at Jeffrey Field next season.
The Nittany Lions released their 2016 schedule on Monday, announcing 18 regular season contests, 11 of which are at home.
The campaign starts off with the Penn State Invitational from Aug. 19-21. Along with Penn State, the tournament includes Buffalo, Hofstra and West Virginia.
The Nittany Lions open with the Mountaineers on Aug. 19, a team Penn State defeated 2-0 in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals to reach the College Cup.
Penn State also hosts Brigham Young on Aug. 26. The Cougars went 16-3-2 in 2015.
Before closing out the home non-conference slate with San Diego State and La Salle, the Nittany Lions travel to California to face UCLA and Long Beach State.
In Big Ten play, Penn State hosts Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, Purdue and Ohio State. The Nittany Lions defeated Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament championship game and the College Cup semifinals.
Penn State faces Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Indiana and Michigan State on the road.
The Big Ten Tournament runs from Oct. 29-Nov. 6 with the NCAA Tournament beginning Nov. 12.. The College Cup, hosted yet again in Cary, N.C., is Dec. 2-4.
