Williams leads Penn State women’s soccer to win over Hofstra

Charlotte Williams scored two goals to help the Penn State women’s soccer team to its first win of the season Sunday.

The No. 2 Nittany Lions beat Hofstra 3-1 at Jeffrey Field.

Hofstra took the lead on a goal by Noriana Radwan just more than seven minutes into the game before Williams found the back of the net twice to give her team the lead.

She tied the game in the 24th minute on a goal off an assist by Nickolette Driesse and gave Penn State the lead with a goal in the 39th minute.

The Nittany Lions added to the lead in the second half on a goal by Salina Williford. Laura Suero had an assist on the play.

Penn State outshot Hofstra 21-3 en route to the 400th win in program history.

Penn State goalie Amanda Dennis made one save.

The Nittany Lions (1-0-1) host Brigham Young at 7 p.m. Friday.
