Freigang receives Big Ten women’s soccer honor

Penn State’s Laura Freigang earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Freigang scored the first goal of her career to help the No. 2 Nittany Lions tie No. 6 West Virginia 1-1 in their season opener last Friday. She found the back of the net on her first shot.

The Nittany Lions (1-0-1) host Brigham Young at 7 p.m. Friday.
