Penn State men’s soccer goalie receives Big Ten honor

Penn State goalie Evan Finney earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Finney made six saves to help the Nittany Lions tie No. 1 Stanford 0-0 in double overtime last Friday. He then made two saves and allowed one goal in 81-plus minutes of action in a 2-1 loss to California. He left the game in the second half due to injury.

The Nittany Lions (0-1-1) host James Madison at 7 p.m. Friday.
