Penn State women’s volleyball beats Siena to end losing skid
Penn State’s three-game losing streak came to an end Friday morning with a 25-11, 25-10, 25-12 sweep of Siena in the Syracuse Classic.
Simone Lee’s 14 kills paced the offense for the No 17 Nittany Lions (3-3), who were in the midst of their first three-game losing skid in 14 years. Tori Gorrell added eight kills and six blocks, Ali Frantti had seven kills and five blocks, Kendall White posted nine digs and Abby Detering gave out 28 assists, directing the offense to a .354 hitting day, to go with her career-high-tying five kills.
Penn State won the blocking battle 11-5, held the Saints to minus-.065 hitting and posted a 38-20 advantage in kills.
The Nittany Lions return to the court at the Women’s Building at 12:30 p.m. Saturday to meet Hofstra, then finish play in the tournament against the host Orange at 7 p.m.
