No. 15 Nittany Lions sweep Purdue

Penn State put on a strong hitting performance in a 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 sweep of Purdue on Saturday night at Rec Hall.

Ali Frantti and Simone Lee put down 14 kills each and Tori Gorrell added 11 for the No. 15 Nittany Lions, who hit .386 as a team. Frantti was error-free and hit .583 while Gorrell was also without an error and hit .733, also posting five blocks.

Abby Detering directed the offense with her 41 assists and Kendall White picked up a dozen digs. Penn State (20-9, 12-6 Big Ten) won the battles in blocking (7-6), digs (37-33) and kills (50-39).

Danielle Cuttino’s 13 kills led the Boilermakers (17-12, 7-11).

The Nittany Lions close the regular season next weekend, hosting Northwestern on Friday and Illinois on Saturday.
