Nittany Lion women’s volleyball bounces back against Maryland

In front of packed Rec Hall crowd of 6,505, Penn State swept Maryland 25-20, 25-11, 25-13 Saturday night.

The No. 4 Nittany Lions (25-4, 14-4) rebounded from Wednesday’s loss to Michigan.

Megan Courtney put down 11 kills to lead the way, while Haleigh Washington added seven kills on .500 hitting with four blocks. Ali Frantti and Aiyana Whitney also had four blocks, Bryanna Weiskircher posted 33 assists and three aces and Kendall Pierce collected a dozen digs.

Adreene Elliott had 12 kills for the Terrapins, who hit .103. Penn State won the blocking battle 11-3 and hit .358 with a 6-2 advantage in aces.

The Nittany Lions host Northwestern on Wednesday to close the regular-season home schedule.
