Five Nittany Lion volleyball players nab regional honors

Five Penn State women’s volleyball players earned All-Northeast Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday.

Penn State’s Aiyana Whitney, Ali Frantti, Megan Courtney and Haleigh Washington were named to the All-Northeast Region team. Bryanna Weiskircher received honorable mention honors.

It was the second straight year Whitney and Frantti earned all-region honors.

Penn State’s selections to the all-region team were the most of any program.

The Nittany Lions (28-5) will face Hawaii (28-1) in the NCAA tournament regional semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Des Moines, Iowa.
