Penn State women’s volleyball coach Russ Rose signed a five-year contract extension, the program announced in a press release Thursday.

Rose, who has 1,189 career wins, is the winningest coach in the history of NCAA Division I volleyball. The coach has led the program to seven national championships in 37 years, including six national titles in the last nine years. The Nittany Lions won the national championship in 2014.

“I think it’s obvious I wouldn’t want to coach anywhere else and it’s great that we can agree to five more years,” Rose said in the release. “Penn State is a special place and I’m honored to be the coach. I hope we can continue to recruit players who want to continue the rich tradition of Penn State volleyball.”

Penn State went 28-6 this season and lost in the NCAA regional semifinals to Hawaii last Friday.
