PSU tabbed as preseason No. 1 in EIVA

Penn State was voted the top team in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association’s (EIVA) preseason poll by the conference’s eight head coaches, the league announced Thursday.

The Nittany Lions have won the last 17 league titles and went undefeated in conference play last year. Penn State finished 21-10 and went to the national semifinals in 2015.

The Nittany Lions got six first-place votes, and George Mason received the other two first-place votes.

Penn State’s season opener is set for Jan. 7 against Southern California at Rec Hall.
