Marathon win for Penn State men’s volleyball
Behind 22-kill nights from Chris Nugent and Jalen Penrose, the Penn State men’s volleyball team outlasted Lewis on Saturday night.
The No. 10 Nittany Lions prevailed in the marathon match 19-25, 28-26, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13.
Spencer Sauter added 13 kills and 11 digs, Penrose also delivered three aces, Matt Callaway posted seven blocks, Royce Clemens picked up a dozen digs and Taylor Hammond gave out 61 assists.
Penn State, which had just one hitting error in the final set, hit .272 for the match, holding a 69-55 advantage in kills and 47-34 in digs. The teams were 12-12 in blocks.
Julian Moses and Bobby Walsh each had 14 kills for the No. 9 Flyers (3-3), a national championship finalist last season.
Penn State (2-2) returns home next weekend to host Ball State and IPFW.
