Penn State sweeps Ball State on volleyball court
The Penn State men’s volleyball team buried Ball State in the snow Friday night at Rec Hall.
Thanks to a balanced offense and solid defense, the No 10 Nittany Lions swept the No. 14 Cardinals 25-15, 25-18, 25-19.
Jalen Penrose paced the offense with 15 kills on .440 hitting, while Chris Nugent added 11 kills on .600 hitting. Spencer Sauter posted eight kills and eight digs, and Matt Callaway had seven kills on nine error-free swings to hit .778. Matt Seifert led the blocking effort with four stuffs, while three each came from Nugent, Sauter, Callaway and Taylor Hammond. Hammond also had 39 assists.
Brendan Surane’s eight kills paced the Cardinals (3-2), who hit .211.
Penn State hit .442 and had the lead in kills 45-31, digs 29-15 and blocks 9-3.
The Nittany Lions are back on the court at 7 p.m. Saturday hosting Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.
