Penn State sweeps IPFW for men’s volleyball win
The Penn State men’s volleyball team wrapped up a weekend of sweeps with another 3-0 victory Saturday night at Rec Hall.
The No. 10 Nittany Lions overcame a slow start and dropped Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne 28-26, 25-17, 25-15.
Chris Nugent’s 17 kills on .500 hitting led Penn State (4-2), with Andrew Roberts adding nine kills, Taylor Hammond giving out 35 assists to go with 11 digs and Royce Clemens picking up 10 digs.
Andrew Sellan’s 17 kills led the Mastadons.
The Nittany Lions hit .314 for the match, but struggled through .094 hitting with 10 errors in the first set. IPFW hit .197 and won the blocking battle 10-2. Penn State had a lead in kills (44-33), digs (35-20) and aces (5-1).
The Nittany Lions, who beat Ball State 3-0 on Friday, visit St. Francis next Saturday.
