Rose announces additions to staff

Penn State women’s volleyball announced the addition of two new members to its staff on Thursday. The Nittany Lions welcome new assistant coach Craig Dyer and director of operations Jon Parry to the program.

Dyer returns to Happy Valley, as he was a member of the Penn State men’s volleyball staff from 2006-09. He helped lead the Nittany Lions to a NCAA national championship in 2008.

His most recent stop was Pittsburgh, where he was an associate head coach since 2013. With the Panthers, Dyer was the recruiting coordinator as well as working with setters and the offense. He was also an assistant coach at Marquette from 2009-12.

“It is exciting to be able to bring Craig and his family back to Penn State,” Penn State coach Russ Rose said in a release. “He came very highly recommended from the previous head coaches he has worked with and combined with what I remember from when he was working with our men’s team, he will be a great addition to the program.”

Meanwhile, Parry was the director of operations and video coordinator for the men’s volleyball team at Long Beach State since 2012.

Parry also spent time with USA Volleyball. His roles included men’s and women’s national team scout coach and volunteer coach since 2013.

“In talking with the Long Beach staff, their head men’s volleyball coach Alan Knipe and John Speraw, head coach of the U.S. men’s national team, it was clear that Jon was the perfect candidate for our director of operations opening,” Rose said.
