A rematch with Stanford and a visit from North Carolina highlight Penn State’s fall schedule, released Wednesday.
The Nittany Lions will face 10 teams which appeared in last season’s NCAA tournament, and 12 opponents which racked up at least 20 wins.
The schedule opens at home Aug. 26-27 with visits from West Virginia in the opener, Georgia Southern and North Carolina. The Tar Heels feature redshirt-sophomore outside hitter Taylor Leath, a former Pennsylvania Player of the Year and a State College graduate.
The following weekend has a trip to Boulder, Colo., on Sept. 3-4 to meet Colorado and Stanford in the Big Ten-Pac 12 Challenge.

The nonconference slate also features a trip to Syracuse to meet the Orange, Siena and Hofstra, and a final home weekend against Rhode Island, Howard and Clemson on Sept. 16-17. Penn State swept Howard inthe first round of last year’s NCAA tournament.
The Big Ten schedule opens at Rutgers on Sept. 21, and the conference slate is highlighted by visits from Michigan (Oct. 1), Minnesota (Oct. 5) and Nebraska (Nov. 4) and trips to Wisconsin (Oct. 28), Minnesota(Oct. 29) and Nebraska (Nov. 16). The schedule closes with visits from Northwestern (Nov. 25) and Illinois (Nov. 26).
