It may be a new year, but one thing that hasn’t changed is that Penn State continues to get the nation’s best wrestlers.

On Sunday, Josh Barr, who is a top-10 recruit in the class of 2023, announced his decision to join the Nittany Lions after graduating high school.

“Extremely excited and blessed to announce that I will be furthering my athletic and academic career at Penn State University,” Barr wrote in his Instagram post. “I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me and helped me get to this point I’m at right now in life. I’d also like to thank every college that recruited me and spent their time on me it is greatly appreciated. I am honored to be joining the legacy at Penn State and to be given the opportunity to help carry on that legacy. We are…#blessed”

Barr is the second high-profile wrestler from Michigan to commit to Penn State — Braeden Davis of Dundee, Mich. committed to the Nittany Lions on Dec. 23.

Barr comes from Davison High School, the same high school as current Nittany Lions wrestler Alex Facundo. He is projected to compete for Penn State at either 174 or 184 pounds.

Barr’s commitment won’t become final until he signs his National Letter of Intent.

The 160-pound wrestler just claimed a Fargo title this summer, but is also a two-time Michigan state champion. He also competed in FloWrestling’s Who’s Number 1 in September. His opponent was fellow Nittany Lions commit and PIAA champion Levi Haines.
