Penn State wrestling adds No. 1 pound for pound recruit in 2025 class

The rich keep getting richer in Rec Hall. Penn State wrestling added the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class Monday night when PJ Duke announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions and head coach Cael Sanderson.

Duke made the announcement on the Baschamania podcast.

The New York high schooler is the top ranked wrestler in FloWrestling’s 2025 high school rankings. He won the New York state title as a freshman in 2022 and is expected to wrestle at 157 pounds when he gets to college, according to FloWrestling.

Duke joins Central Mountain wrestler Dalton Perry and State College’s Asher Cunningham — son of Penn State head assistant coach Casey Cunningham — as commitments to the Nittany Lions for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

They will be joining a program that has won 10 of the last 12 team NCAA titles and has crowned 11 individual champions in the last three years.
