Here’s where Penn State’s wrestlers rank with the postseason looming

The postseason is right around the corner for Penn State’s wrestling team.

When the final NWCA Top 25 poll was released on Tuesday, the Nittany Lions finished where they began, No. 1.

Penn State is one of six Big Ten schools in the top 10, along with Ohio State (No. 2), Nebraska (No. 5), Iowa (No. 7), Minnesota (No. 9) and Illinois (No. 10) .

David Taylor’s Oklahoma State team is No. 3 after thrashing Iowa on Sunday.

The Big Ten has four other schools ranked in the top 25 in Rutgers (No. 11), Michigan (No. 12), Wisconsin (No. 19) and Indiana (No. 20).

Individually, the Nittany Lions still have six No. 1 ranked wrestlers in Luke Lilledahl (125 pounds), Shayne Van Ness (149), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165), Levi Haines (174), Rocco Welsh (184) and Josh Barr (197).

Penn State has nine of its 10 wrestlers ranked in the top five of their respective weights as Marcus Blaze (No. 2, 133 pounds), PJ Duke (No. 4, 157) and Cole Mirasola (No. 5, 285) joined the six No. 1s. Mirasola moved up a spot from last week.

Braeden Davis dropped two spots to No. 14 after his win in the Princeton dual.
