How dominant was Penn State’s wrestling season? Here’s a look at the records
Another wrestling season has come and gone for Penn State.
This year’s edition for the Nittany Lions was full of either record-breaking or record-tying performances. It was also a dominant year when it came to the duals.
Here’s a look back at the records and the eye-catching stats from the season and Penn State’s duals:
For the record
- Victories over North Dakota State (76th consecutive) and Stanford (77th straight), tied and broke the Division 1 dual winning streak set by Oklahoma State from 1937-1951, and tied the NCAA dual winning streak set by Div. II St. Cloud State from 2017-2022.
- The victory over Rutgers was the 78th straight, which became new NCAA dual winning streak, and continues to grow, currently at 86 straight. Penn State could break the all-time winning streak for the NCAA over all sports — it’s currently 88 by UCLA Men’s Basketball from 1971 to 1974.
