After the teams played a tight game for more than 55 minutes, the Penns Valley girls’ soccer team pulled away late to drop Clearfield 5-1 Thursday night.

Five different Lady Rams got in on the scoring for the Mountain League victory. Olia Corman netted the lone first-half goal, heading in Hannah Denger’s corner kick less than two minutes after Ally Lindstrom put the Lady Bison on the board.

The game stayed tied until the 58th minute, when Keirra Whitman netted what proved to be the game winner, with more scoring to follow from Sydeny Riegel, Denger and Hannah Montminy. Denger and Corman also had a pair of assists each.

It was a matter of time the scoring would come through as Penns Valley outshot Clearfield 24-7.

“In the second half it was just a combined effort,” Lady Rams coach Jeff Denger said. “All the players worked through the defense and put the ball on frame.”

Rachel Wert made six saves in the win.
