Philipsburg-Osceola beats BEA, falls to Tyrone in boys’ cross country

Matthew Shimmel finished third to help Philipsburg-Osceola split with Bald Eagle Area and Tyrone on Tuesday.

The Mounties beat BEA 22-33, but lost to Tyrone 24-31. Tyrone also beat BEA 20-37.

Shimmel finished in 20:14 to pace the Mounties, while teammates Dane Soltys (fifth, 20:49), Zach Myers (seventh, 22:05) and Josh Rea (ninth, 22:40) also finished in the top 10.

Austin Klinger took fourth (20:48), and Caleb Spackman placed 10th (22:45) to lead BEA.
