Girls’ tennis

State College wins 3rd straight

YORK The State College girls’ tennis team swept their singles matches Wednesday to slip past Northern York 3-2 for their third straight win of the season.

The Lady Little Lions’ Kelly Vanden, Catelyn Janac and Amelia Dodoo won in straight sets to help their team rebound after opening the season with a loss. State College is now 3-1.

The Lady Little Lions will next take on Cedar Cliff at home Tuesday.

CCCA upends Cambria

EBENSBURG Centre County Christian Academy’s Ethan Gore opened the season with a bang Tuesday, as he recorded a hat trick in a 6-2 rout of Cambria County Christian.

CCCA trailed 2-1 at halftime, but its offense exploded by scoring five unanswered goals in the second half.

Mintesinot Borst finished with two scores, while Hayden Walker had the other. Walker also led the way with two assists.

The Bulldogs’ Chad Weaver added 10 saves in the winning effort.
