Boys’ soccer
Koleno leads BEA to victory
Seth Koleno finished with two goals and one assist to lead the Bald Eagle Area boys’ soccer team to a 3-0 win over Clearfield on Monday.
Jacob Michael added one goal and one assist for the Eagles, who improved their record to 6-1. Koleno scored the lone goal of the first half at the 11:41 mark on an assist by Michael. Koleno scored the team’s second goal before Michael capped the day’s scoring.
The Eagles outshot Clearfield 20-3. BEA goalie Hunter Etters finished with three saves for the shutout.
BEA takes on Tyrone on the road Wednesday.
Bellefonte falls to Tyrone
BELLEFONTE Bellefonte controlled its game against Tyrone, but the Red Raiders couldn’t find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss Monday.
Tyrone’s Corey Johnston scored the game-winning goal in the second half on a penalty kick. The Red Raiders outshot the Golden Eagles 14-5 in the loss. Tyrone goalie Isaac Wooner made seven saves for the shutout, while Bellefonte’s Josh Gaus had two saves.
“It was one of those nights we couldn’t buy a goal,” Bellefonte coach Scott Martz said.
The Red Raiders (3-3) return to action at Central at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
P-O loses 5th straight
MARTINSBURG Philipsburg-Osceola’s offensive struggles continued in a 3-0 loss to Central on Monday.
It was the Mounties’ fifth straight loss and fourth in a row by shutout. P-O outshot Central 23-12 in the setback.
Devon Clapper, Ashton Campbell and Luke Trexler each scored goals for the Dragons.
The Mounties host Huntingdon on Wednesday.
Girls’ volleyball
St. Joseph’s serves up sweep of Juniata
MIFFLINTOWN St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy delivered 19 aces from the service line Monday in a 25-14, 25-12, 25-16 sweep of Juniata.
Ruthanna McMurtrie led the way with eight service winners to go with her three blocks. Ana Legaspi put down nine kills to go with four aces, and Aubrey Weiss also delivered four aces for the Lady Wolves (3-2).
