Bellefonte coach Scott Martz said the game plan for his squad was to control the middle of the field and get lots of shots on goal Tuesday.

The Red Raiders rifled 19 of them on the Bald Eagle Area net while managing to hang on for the 2-1 win over their county rival.

“We came out very aggressive tonight,” Martz said. “The guys really played well as a team and passed the ball well. Bald Eagle really made a good push the last 10 minutes of the game. Great rivalry game.”

Dan Catchmark put the Red Raiders on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute. Goalkeeper Josh Gaus, who made four saves, recorded an assist on the goal.

Bellefonte went up by two goals 16 minutes later thanks to Shane Cronin.

The Eagles didn’t go away.

Jared Gettig found the back of the net with 15 minutes to go in the game for BEA off an assist from Seth Koleno. The Eagles’ Hunter Etters stuffed 12 shots by Bellefonte.

BEA will next take on Penns Valley on Wednesday, while Bellefonte will face Huntingdon on Wednesday.
