Boys’ soccer

State College falls in Mid Penn title game

HERSHEY State College boys’ soccer opened its season with a scoreless tie against Lower Dauphin, who was the No. 6 team in the country at the time.

On Thursday, the Little Lions got the Falcons again — but this time the Mid Penn Conference championship was on the line.

Again, State College was held scoreless but Lower Dauphin was not in a 4-0 finish.

The Falcons raced out to a three-goal advantage 16 minutes into the game. Ryan Becher had the first score three minutes into the game. Blake Cassel and Jackson Becher had back-to-back goals five minutes apart for the 3-0 lead.

Jackson Becher tacked on another goal with just over two minutes left in the game.

The Little Lions’ Jason Keller made seven saves in the net.

Girls’ soccer

PV wins regular season finale

TYRONE Hannah Montminy recorded two goals and an assist as Penns Valley girls’ soccer topped Tyrone 4-1 on Thursday to close its regular season.

Montminy assisted on the Lady Rams’ first goal of the game by Abby Martin in the 11th minute. Montminy tallied her first goal three minutes later. Her final score opened up the second half.

Sydney Riegel had the other Penns Valley score. Hannah Denger led the Lady Rams with two assists as Katie Martell added an assist.

Penns Valley will await to see what seed it gets in the District 6 Class 2A playoffs.

BEA tops West Branch in 2OT

ALLPORT Neither Bald Eagle Area nor West Branch could score in regulation.

However, it was the Lady Eagles’ Addison Proctor netting a game-winner in double overtime of the 1-0 win.

“The girls played so hard all game. They left everything on the field today,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “Addie came through in overtime. She always seems to find her way to the perfect spot. It was a great way to finish up a season.”

Charlee Harris had eight saves for the Lady Eagles, who had 15 shots in the game.

P-O drops season finale

CLEARFIELD Philipsburg-Osceola found itself in a three-goal deficit less than eight minutes into its 5-1 loss to Clearfield.

Rylie Yurkey had the Lady Mounties lone goal of the game. Anya Tocimak (5) and Kyra James (7) combined to stop 12 of the Lady Bison’s 30 shots.

The Lady Bison scored five-unanswered goals with four in the first half.

Girls’ volleyball

Lady Little Lions sweep Lady Colts

CAMP HILL Rachel Fedorko made her presence known on the court for State College in a 25-10, 25-18, 25-5 shutout of Cedar Cliff.

Fedorko had four aces, seven kills and two blocks for the Lady Little Lions.

Jess Irwin had 10 kills to lead State College (12-3), which got 13 assists from Kacy Sekunda and another 14 assists from Leah Henderson.

Lady Eagles top Central

WINGATE Madison Rockey was all over the court offensively and defensively for Bald Eagle Area in a 3-0 sweep (25-8, 25-12, 25-20) of Central.

Rockey dished out 28 assists and had two aces on offense. On defense, Rockey amassed 11 digs.

Grace Hugar led the Lady Eagles with 17 kills.
