St. Joseph’s football sputters in shutout loss
St. Joseph’s couldn’t get much of anything going Friday night in a 42-0 loss to Nativity.
The Green Wave (6-3) ran all over the Wolves, with 308 yards on 43 carries, while St. Joseph’s — which is now 0-7 on the season — struggled in the trenches. The Wolves managed just 41 yards on 15 carries.
Overall, SJCA ran just 37 offensive plays and had six first downs.
Nativity jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter, and SJCA just couldn’t catch up. Quarterback Brendan Robinson couldn’t get anything going as a dual threat; he technically finished with minus-13 rushing yards. Passing-wise, he was 10 of 22 for 82 yards.
Running back Zac Sechler was the bright spot for the Wolves, as he finished with 54 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards. That was 64 percent of the SJCA offense.
The Wolves have lost their last six games by at least three touchdowns. Their closest contest came in Week 1, with a 12-0 loss to Bucktail.
This is the first time since the opener they’ve been shut out.
SJCA will next take on Bishop Carroll at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. It has a bye next week.
