Bill Kalbfleisch of Bellefonte has been named the new head coach of the State College boys’ lacrosse program, the school announced Monday.
Kalbfleisch replaces longtime coach Jeff King, who started the team in 2003. King recently moved to Utah.
“Coach Kalbfleisch brings outstanding experience within the collegiate and high school lacrosse community,” Little Lions athletic director Chris Weakland said in a written statement. “Although we will miss the departure of longtime coach and pioneer of our program Jeff King, we are very excited to start the next chapter with the leadership of Coach Kalbfleisch.”
Kalbfleisch boasts 27 years of coaching experience and was named the 2014 Illinois High School Lacrosse Coach of the Year at Lyons Township High School. He was there for three seasons and compiled a 55-19 record.
He has also worked summer camps, including at Penn State and Virginia, for 16 seasons. He played at Bowling Green from 1968 to 1971.
