Sites, times announced for State College, Bellefonte football playoff games
After two memorable wins Friday, both the Bellefonte and State College football teams are moving on to the first round of the PIAA state playoffs — and the sites and times are set.
The Red Raiders (10-2) will take on District 4 champ Selinsgrove (10-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Altoona Area High School in a Class 4A matchup, while the Little Lions (9-2) will face District 2’s Delaware Valley (12-0) at 7 p.m. Friday at Danville High School in a Class 6A contest.
The winner of Bellefonte’s game will take on the winner Friday between Pottsgrove-Bethlehem Catholic. The rest of State College’s Class 6A bracket is still to be determined.
The Little Lions are making their fourth straight PIAA playoff appearance after crushing Erie 48-12 in a subregional game. Bellefonte is coming off its first district title since 1999 after defeating Johnstown 34-12.
Both State College and Bellefonte would need three more wins apiece to reach their respective state championship games, which are scheduled for Dec. 7 and Dec. 9.
