Campus Corner: Bellefonte grad Trevor Corl finding success with Lycoming wrestling

Former Bellefonte wrestler Trevor Corl has won a pair of tournaments for the Lycoming wrestling team to date.

Corl won the Washington & Jefferson Invitational, going 4-0 and then took the Messiah Invitational with a 5-0 record. Last weekend he went 3-1 in the John Carroll Invitational, losing to Jarrad Sasko of John Carroll 3-1 in sudden victory, giving him a 12-1 record at 149 pounds.


Aaron Boumerhi (P-O, Temple) leads the team in scoring with 62 points on 14 field goals and 20 extra points. Temple is 5-6 and will visit Tulsa on Saturday.

Taylor Collison (Penns Valley, F&M) finished the season with 213 rushing yards and a touchdown on 36 carries. He also caught two passes for three yards. F&M beat Widener on Saturday to finish 10-1. It is only the second time in school history that the Diplomats have posted a 10-win season.

Jon Seighman (State College, Lehigh) has 19 solo tackles and five assists as well as an interception. Lehigh beat Lafayette 38-31 Saturday to post a 5-6 record and earn the a berth in the Patriot League playoffs, where it will meet Stony Brook on Saturday.

Pete Haffner (State College, Lehigh) has five solo tackles and an assist.

Brett Graham (State College, UConn) is averaging 39 yards on 60 punts. UConn is 3-8 and will finish at Cincinnati on Saturday.


Taylor Leath (State College, North Carolina) has 317 kills, 11 assists, 19 aces, 209 digs and 52 blocks. North Carolina is 14-12 and will end the season with Duke on Saturday.

Abby Horner (State College, Edinboro) has two assists, 11 aces and eight digs. Edinboro lost in the PSAC semifinals and is waiting to see if it gets a bid to the NCAA tournament. The Lady Scots are 21-9.


Jack Etter (State College, Indiana) finished with a time of 3 minutes, 52.32 seconds in the 400 IM at the Purdue Invitational to finish seventh overall. He also finished 22nd in both the 200 breaststroke (2:03.45) and the 200 IM (1:50.06) with two personal bests.

Kirsten Hillsley (State College, Duquesne) swam the 50 breaststroke in 31.01 seconds but did not place, turned in a 26.60 in the 50 freestyle and did not place and was 22nd in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06 at the Magnus Cup at Cleveland State. She also swam on the 400 medley relay team that was 16th with a time of 1:00.18.

Nate Woodman (State College, LaSalle) was 11th in the 200 butterfly at the Bucknell Invitational. His time was 1:55.26.


Corey Hazel (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) placed third at the Black Knight Invitational at West Point. Hazel was 3-1 at 184 and is 5-3 overall. Lock Haven will host the Mat Town Open on Saturday.


Zach Engle (Penns Valley, Juniata) has played in one game but has no stats. Juniata is 2-0.

Kyla Irwin (State College, UConn) has played 21 minutes so far with one rebound, one assist and one steal. UConn is 3-0.

Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Lock Haven) has scored 28 points and has 18 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Lock Haven is 1-4.
