Bald Eagle Area’s Grace Hugar and Madison Rockey were both named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association’s Class 2A All-State Team, becoming two of just 48 picks across the state in their respective class.

No other county girls’ volleyball athletes made the Class A or Class 2A teams, and Class 3A and 4A have not yet been announced.

Hugar and Rockey both led the Lady Eagles to a district championship and entered the state tournament with the No. 8 ranking in the state — before falling to the commonwealth’s top-ranked team in Freeport. Bald Eagle Area was a perfect 19-0 entering the PIAA tournament.

Both girls were named to the first-team Mountain League all-stars, and Hugar was the league MVP.

Hugar, an outside hitter, and Rockey, a setter, are both sophomores — so it’s quite likely this won’t be their last time appearing on this list. And, they said after the state tournament, that wouldn’t be their final appearance there either.

“We’re going to work to get back,” Hugar said at the time.
