State College juniors Leah Henderson and Jess Irwin were both recently named all-state in Class 4A by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

Lady Little Lions coach Chad Weight said Friday that he wasn’t surprised.

“Both Leah and Jess have had varsity time since they were freshmen, and they’re looked at as the leaders of the team,” Weight said. “They both have worked hard to perfect their craft, so I’m happy for them.”

Henderson, a setter, finished the season with 580 assists, 257 digs, 120 kills and 29 aces. Irwin, an outside hitter, wound up with 302 kills, 233 digs and 54 aces.

The pair helped lead State College to a 15-4 overall record and a berth in the PIAA tournament.

The Class 3A and Class 4A all-state teams were both recently revealed, and State College boasted the only players honored throughout the county. The Class 2A and 3A teams were revealed last week, and Bald Eagle Area’s Grace Hugar and Madison Rockey both made that team.
