Wrestling

P-O picks up win over Moshannon Valley

HOUTZDALE Tristan Beauseigneur paced Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling with its lone pin Friday night and, thanks to that and three forfeits, the Mounties triumphed over Moshannon Valley 38-23.

Beauseigneur (152 pounds) opened the match with a fall in 1 minute, 4 seconds. He was joined by four other Mounties who picked up wins outside of the forfeits: Ian Klinger (170), Josh Hubler (195), Brandon Anderson (220) and Chase Chapman (126).

P-O will next host Huntingdon on Wednesday.

Boys’ basketball

Little Lions still undefeated

STATE COLLEGE The Little Lions cruised to yet another lopsided win, as it beat Mifflin County 77-58 — after holding a 30-point edge at halftime.

Drew Friberg led all State College scorers with 17 points, while Max Benner had 14 and Brandon Clark added 13.

The Little Lions (13-0) will next take on Harrisburg on the road Monday.

Grace Prep rolls

COLLEGE TOWNSHIP Zac Sechler produced more than half of Grace Prep’s offense — scoring 23 of its 41 points — in his team’s 41-33 win over Juniata Mennonite.

Carl Oelhaf chipped in 13 in the winning effort.

The Storm (7-3) will next take on Carson Long on Monday.

Huntingdon outpaces Bellefonte

HUNTINGDON Caleb Rockey scored a team-high 15 points and Nate Tice added 14, but it wasn’t enough in the Red Raiders’ 64-45 loss to Huntingdon.

Bellefonte trailed at halftime 31-19 and couldn’t keep up with the Bearcats.

SJCA wins big

BOALSBURG Four St. Joseph’s players reached double figures en route to an 81-67 win over Harmony.

RJ Marsh finished with a team-high 25 points, while Jack Mangene had 19 points. Zane Thornburg added 14 points, and Ethan Khoza had 11.

The Wolves (10-4) will next take on Harrisburg Academy on Saturday.

Girls’ basketball

State College loses

LEWISTOWN Maya Bokunewicz led the Lady Little Lions with 16 points, but her team came up short in the 56-45 loss to Mifflin County.

Kelsey Love chipped in 10 points in the loss.

State College will next play Harrisburg at home Monday.

Shaw leads Tyrone past P-O

TYRONE Sydney Shaw had a huge night for Tyrone, scoring a school-record 41 points in an 89-62 victory.

With 13 3-pointers, all but two of Shaw’s points came from beyond the arc, and 26 of her points were netted in the second half as the Lady Eagles pulled away after a four-point halftime lead. In all, Tyrone sank 18 3-pointers.

Shaw outdueled the Lady Mounties’ Halle Herrington, who scored 30 points. Lacey Potter added 21.
