Campus Corner: Penns Valley’s Megan Duck helps Susquehanna to swim win
Penns Valley graduate Megan Duck helped the Susquehanna women’s swimming team to a win over Goucher College over the weekend.
Duck won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 15.27 seconds, took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.77 and swam on the fourth-place 200 medley relay team that posted a time of 2:00.54.
Wrestling
Corey Hazel (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) won two matches last week at 184 pounds, beating Brandon Harrison of George Mason 7-3 and Brown’s CJ LaFrangola 2-0, as Lock Haven won both meets. The Eagles beat George Mason 40-6 and Brown 21-9. Lock Haven is 9-1 while Hazel is 18-8 and ranked 31st.
Trevor Corl (Bellefonte, Lycoming) is 26-2 at 149 pounds.
Basketball
Zach Engle (Penns Valley, Juniata) averages 1.2 points and has nine rebounds. Juniata is 14-3.
Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) averages 6.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also has 40 assists, four seals and five blocks. Stony Brook is 8-12.
Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Lock Haven) has a 5.8 scoring average and owns 62 rebounds, eight assists, nine steals and a block. Lock Haven is 3-14.
Kyla Irwin (State College, UConn) scored seven points and played 18 minutes in Sunday’s 113-57 romp over Temple. For the year she averages 2.7 points per game and has 17 rebounds, seven assists and four steals while playing an average of 8.9 minutes for the No. 1 Huskies (18-0).
Jess Book (Bellefonte, Grove City) has a 3.8 scoring average and 62 rebounds, 12 assists and eight steals.
Cass Book (Bellefonte, Grove City) scores an average of 1.4 points per game and has 17 rebounds, four assists and a steal. Grove City is 12-6.
Tommy Sekunda (State College, Seton Hill) has a 6.2 scoring average to go with 34 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and a block. Seton Hill is 6-12.
Taylor Love (State College, Marymount) has a 2.8 scoring average and a 2.3 rebound average. Marymount is 15-2.
Swimming
Kirsten Hillsley (State College, Duquesne) placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.19 as Duquesne fell to Akron 197-102.
Hannah Finton (State College, Susquehanna) was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:43.32 in a 168-63 win over Goucher.
Ben Gingher (State College, Eastern Michigan) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:03.76 and took third in the 100 breaststroke in 58.24 in a 172-103 win over Wayne State.
Indoor track & field
Kylie Orndorf (Penns Valley, Juniata) placed fifth in the weight throw with a top attempt of 39 feet, 9 1/2 inches and was 14th in the shot put with a 31-7 3/4 effort in the Susquehanna Invitational.
